Assistant Manager

Assistant Manager (Retail/Pharmacy) – Boots

Are you someone who enjoys leading from the front, supporting people and making things happen day to day?

About the Role

At Boots, being an Assistant Manager means creating a team and environment that customers and patients trust — everyone should feel welcoming, well-cared for and want to return. Driven by our purpose, “With You. For Life.”, you’ll play a critical role in delivering care that makes a real difference to those who visit your store, both customers and colleagues.

You’ll balance people, performance, and operations daily:

  • Leading and supporting your team
  • Setting high standards for excellence
  • Driving outcomes that impact customers, colleagues, and business results

This is a hands-on leadership role—where your role challenges you to lead daily, shape experiences and take accountability for store success, balancing customer care, commercials, and team development. Exciting for those who thrive on impact and autonomy!

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead your team to achieve strong commercial and care performance
  • Foster a positive, motivated team culture where people feel supported and valued
  • Coach, develop, and manage your team through regular feedback, coaching and goal-setting
  • Take daily operational responsibility, including planning, scheduling, and workload prioritisation
  • Uphold high standards—ensuring the store is safe, clean, and easy to navigate
  • Manage stock levels, cost controls, and loss prevention
  • Ensure legal and operational compliance through audits, risk assessments and checks
  • Use data and reports to identify store improvement opportunities
  • Step into Store Manager’s absence, confidently leading and taking responsibility for decisions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
