About This Role
We are creating versatile recipes, adjusting to cater to all shifts and busy restaurant environments while staying creative—no two days the same. Whether you're joining as a senior or starting as a kitchen junior, we offer a chance to grow and learn a trade that lasts a lifetime.
The restaurant: Flat Iron in Clapham—just off the Clapham High Street, heading south of Ladbroke Grove, a short walk from Turner Avenue. Generous-sized restaurant with multiple service areas, meeting the flexibility needs of busy service and our social business, Wagamama.

Key Responsibilities Asked Of You
- Come pizza-delivery ready: knife skills are essential, so we’ll try out.
- Using provided kitchen infrastructure, independently operate in prepped line stations as an active team member.
- Work with sub teams to prep food and maintain high standards efficiently.
- Ensure clean stations: ensure kitchen areas remain functional while maintaining a consistent hygiene approach.
- Communicate effectively across kitchen shifts – because planning ahead saves work and leaves everyone smiling.
- Adopt and communicate food hygiene practices while keeping up morale.
And of course: Stay unfazed. Our kitchens are the busiest on West London’s South Bank—frequently worked at max capacity, with no assurances of breaks or quieter days.
Who Are We Looking For?
We want an ambitious worker who:
- Has a passion for food.
- Is capable and physical—with the stamina for long shifts.
- Takes pride in teamwork.
- Wants to learn, not just work their way.
- Is blunt and realistic about challenges, but seeks solutions.
Training: That’s what we offer. If Flats is introducing a new product or technique, everybody does induction together, from aspiring commis to experienced brigade.
