Your New Role...

As Assistant Manager, you will oversee the Kings Cross team and support the delivery of high-quality customer experiences while ensuring smooth day-to-day retail operations.

Working closely with the Store Manager, you will foster an engaged team, and build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders that encourage repeat visits and drive business success.

You'll have the opportunity to develop your leadership capability, work with a wide range of stakeholders, and play an important role in shaping the customer experience at this busy location.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Oversee daily retail operations, ensuring excellent customer service standards, operational readiness, effective staff deployment, and management presence on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate team performance through recruitment support, onboarding, training, daily briefings, coaching, performance reviews, and team engagement initiatives.
  • Enhance commercial performance by monitoring sales activity, analysing performance data, identifying improvement opportunities, and maintaining strong knowledge of sales figures and best-selling products.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners, including Network Rail, contractors, suppliers, and operational stakeholders, to enable efficient store operations.
  • Ensure effective stock management, technology readiness, visual presentation standards, facilities coordination, and customer service processes are maintained across the operation.
  • Promote a safe working environment by championing health and safety compliance, incident reporting, operational audits, and adherence to statutory and industry regulations.
  • Partner with the Store Manager on people management activities, investigations, conflict resolution, expenditure control, continuous improvement initiatives, and deputising responsibilities when required.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a customer-facing environment, such as retail, hospitality, leisure, tourism, visitor attractions, entertainment, or other service-led operations.
  • Demonstrable experience operating within a fast-paced environment while delivering high levels of customer service and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience coordinating operational improvements, projects, or business initiatives, supported by strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Strong operational leadership experience, with experience creating safe, effective and customer-focused environments.
  • Health and safety knowledge is essential. IOSH, IPAF, PASMA or NEBOSH qualifications are advantageous, and training opportunities are available to achieve relevant certifications where required.

Working Pattern and Duty Management…

This role is full time (40 hours per week) and operates on a shift pattern. The role operates across a seven-day rota and includes weekend, evening, bank holiday and peak trading period shifts, shared across the wider management team. Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the business.

As an ambassador for the business, the Assistant Manager will partner with the Store Manager, including working with third parties and attending meetings in their absence.

Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
