Job Title: Assistant Manager – Asset Management Tax

The KPMG Asset Management Tax team provides high-quality and impactful tax advisory and compliance services. Due to our ongoing growth, we have a number of job openings for exceptional candidates. This posting is for a role focused on UK Funds tax compliance and advisory. The role would be well suited to a well-organised candidate who has strong attention to detail, is an excellent team player, and who may be looking to expand or build knowledge on UK fund corporation tax matters.

What will you be doing?
As an Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Continuing to develop your tax technical knowledge of tax legislation, guidance, and building an understanding of how this applies in practice to investment funds.
- Support the preparation and review of UK tax computations that have been prepared by team members to ensure they are of the highest standard and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Being part of a cohesive team both in the UK and globally, supporting the development of junior members of the team.
- Building commercial awareness of different types of investments that funds may invest in, the ability to undertake research to understand the specific features, and determining the tax treatment.
- Undertaking tax technical analysis and providing ad hoc advisory support.
- Embracing technology and identifying opportunities to better use technology and resources available.
- Attending client meetings and calls, including playing an active role in the discussion of tax technical topics.
- Build long-term trusted client relationships with clients and stakeholders that you are aligned to.
What will you need to do it?
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate all of the following attributes:
- Strong foundations or qualifications in Tax or Accountancy.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and methodical approach to matters.
- Proactive, with a drive to develop a specialism in Funds taxation and to be part of a fast-growing, high-performing tax team.
- An interest in investments and investment funds. Experience in working in the Funds sector is preferred, but this is not essential.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines by planning ahead and prioritising, and communicating effectively with colleagues and clients, including when under pressure.
- Positive approach to personal development and motivation for progression to Manager grade and beyond, as your experience and knowledge develops.
- Desire to take responsibility and accountability, managing self and a less experienced team.
- Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work collaboratively with a global team and building relationships with clients.
- High levels of technology competence - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, experience in using tax software (e.g. Alphatax).
