About the Role
Costa Coffee is recruiting an experienced Assistant Cafe Manager passionate about delivering exceptional food and world-class customer service. The ideal candidate can confidently oversee all Compass Group UK&I catering and service operations for Costa Coffee, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences. This is a full-time role (40 hours), with typical shifts covering 5 out of 7 days.
As an Assistant Cafe Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining smooth kitchen and service counter operations while supporting business growth. Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- Liaising between the team and manager to continuously exceed customer expectations
- Motivating the team, ensuring everyone remains on task and engaged
- Managing inventories, monitoring budgets, and implementing action plans
- Operating the till system and processing transactions accurately
- Supporting team development, including training and leading by example
- Assisting with administrative tasks, paperwork, and compliance
- Representing Compass Group UK&I and maintaining a positive brand image

** Requirements & Skills**
Essential Criteria:
- A passion for exceptional customer service
- Experience in a similar role (preferably as an Assistant Manager or Café Lead)
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams
- Strong communication skills and organisational ability
- A committed, self-motivated attitude with a desire to upskill and progress
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with POS (Point of Sale) systems in a café or hospitality setting
- Skilled in budget management and inventory control
- Experience with team training and performance coaching
