Assistant Manager – JD Sports

About the Role At JD Sports, we don’t just lead the game—we set the pace. As Assistant Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our Store Manager to drive results, develop talent, and elevate the customer experience, ensuring every store delivers the premium JD standard.

We’re a fast-paced, ambitious retailer building habits, not just selling sports fashion and outdoor gear. This role is your opportunity to lead confidently, shape a high-performing team, and make your impact in a world-class retail environment.

Job Overview

As an Assistant Manager at JD Sports, you are a key force behind your store’s success, supporting the front-line with leadership, operational excellence, and commercial focus.

This role demands confident leadership, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to inspire teams—delivering outstanding results through collaboration and collective effort. Your focus will be on:

  • Upholding JD’s premium brand standards
  • Driving sales performance and operational efficiency
  • Building a motivated, high-performing team

Key Responsibilities

✅ Store Operations & Leadership

  • Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and KPIs, ensuring daily store operations are aligned with business objectives.
  • Guide and manage shop floor colleagues by allocating tasks, maintaining JD’s high service standards, and fostering a positive working environment.

✅ Commercial & Operational Excellence

  • Coordinate core duties, including cash handling, inventory control, delivery processing, stock audits, and opening/closing routines.
  • Escalate issues promptly to ensure operational efficiency while achieving pricing accuracy and timely restrictions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
