The Assistant Manager role is a senior retail position that supports the Store Manager in delivering outstanding commercial and customer outcomes. You will help lead a passionate team, drive sales and operational excellence, and act as a visible ambassador for the Fred Perry brand in-store and in the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets, margin and KPI objectives through active leadership on the shop floor.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by coaching the team to create personalised, memorable shopping experiences and build long-term customer loyalty.
- Supervise daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, stock management, and visual merchandising standards.
- Drive team performance by providing regular feedback, training, and development; assist with rotas and ensure adequate cover for peak trading periods.
- Maintain health, safety, and security procedures, supporting loss-prevention initiatives, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Analyse sales data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and communicate insights to store management and head office teams.
- Lead by example in product knowledge, visual standards, and Fred Perry brand values to inspire the team and represent the brand positively in the community.
- Manage customer queries and complaints professionally, using the returns and refund policy to strengthen relationships and protect the brand reputation.

Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven retail supervisor or assistant management experience, ideally within fashion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
- Strong commercial awareness and numeracy, with experience of working to sales targets and KPIs
- Organised, decisive, and able to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced retail setting
- Confident in using EPOS systems and basic reporting tools; competent with Microsoft Office or similar
- Positive, enthusiastic approach to the Fred Perry brand and its community, and willingness to learn and adapt
- Flexibility to work retail hours including weekends and bank holidays as required
