Assistant Manager, Risk & Regulatory Consulting

Please note: this is an on-site role based in the Cayman Islands and relocation is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to reside and work in the Cayman Islands, a prominent global financial center offering an exceptional quality of life. Full relocation support and work permit sponsorship will be provided.
Reporting to Senior Management, the Assistant Manager will support the delivery and growth of a risk consulting practice across the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, and British Virgin Islands. This role focuses on anti-money laundering, enterprise risk management, internal controls design and testing, and remediation activities, while also supporting regulatory compliance and digital asset-related advisory where relevant.
Role and Responsibilities
- Performing Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance reviews, gap analysis, and remediation exercises.
- Support delivery and coordination of advisory engagements across risk and controls, governance, internal controls design, testing and remediation, operational resilience, and third-party/vendor risk.
- Conduct governance, risk and control assessment, and help support design and implementation of enterprise risk management, governance structures, risk appetite and risk reporting.
- Execute and oversee internal controls testing (design and operating effectiveness), gap analyses and remediation plans, including preparation of findings and recommendations.
- Assist with regulatory mapping and interpretation for applicable jurisdictional requirements; prepare concise legislative and regulatory summaries to inform clients and internal teams.
- Support project delivery for the duration of engagements, serving as KPMG’s key contact for clients, developing and managing the project scope workplans/budgets, assessing risk, managing resources, and coordinating the work of the engagement team; including new client onboarding due diligence and risk management procedures.
- Developing project plans and track a variety of client engagements providing regular status updates and flagging areas requiring escalation or at risk of slipping.
- Assisting in new business development including the preparation and presentation of client proposals, KPMG Advisory offerings to the market as well as managing relationships with existing clients.
- You may also be required to work in other areas of advisory where your skills may be relevant or adaptable.
- You may also be required to travel, particularly within the Cayman Cluster and to other IFC Advisory locations and for training/conferences/meetings.
- Continue to upskill, develop your industry knowledge, and maintain credentials for designations related to your work.

Requirements of the Role
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or similar area of study.
- CAMS certification and/or other Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, or financial crime related certification by an established (accredited) body.
- Compliance experience of 4+ years in a professional setting with a financial institution, regulator, or risk consulting practice.
- Professional accounting designation such as CA, CPA or ACCA advantageous but not essential.
- Understanding of regulatory landscape and experience working with Digital Assets or crypto currencies.
- Experience of the Cayman Islands regulatory regime and other global regulators.
- Personable, with attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Practical experience with internal controls testing, risk management, governance and anti-money laundering.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.).
- Experience working with proposal development, budgets, and report writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, with limited supervision where warranted – strong team player and key contributor to securing and delivering client engagements.
- Excellent time management and Project Management experience.
