Assistant Manager – Accounting & Financial Reporting

Role: Assistant Manager

Location: Reading, Berkshire, UK Department: Accounting & Financial Reporting Reports To: Manager / Senior Manager / Associate Director Employment Type: Permanent


Role Summary

As an Assistant Manager, you will take full ownership of a portfolio of clients, driving the delivery of:

  • Monthly management accounts
  • Year-end financial reporting

You will also:

  • Mentor and support junior team members across global offices (Mauritius & India)
  • Provide technical accounting expertise and assist in ad hoc projects
  • Oversee client payment processes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure strong client relationships
  • Ensure tax compliance and process efficiencies in a fast-growing business

This role is a key contributor to maintaining exceptional client service while driving growth and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, delivering monthly management accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support and coach junior team members in Mauritius and India, ensuring consistent service delivery.
  • Provide technical accounting advice, including UK GAAP and IFRS compliance during key reporting periods.
  • Oversee client payment processing, including currencies, incentives, and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with legal, tax, and audit teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Coordinate year-end financial statements and audit preparations for multiple entities.
  • Support tax filings (VAT, corporation tax, P11Ds, PSA), ensuring deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained.
  • Assist with client onboarding, billing, and debt collection processes.
  • Identify operational improvements and propose strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Foster a client-centric culture, driving satisfaction through proactive communication.

Skills & Experience Required

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with solid accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Direct experience in preparation of management accounts, preferably within a multi-client fund administration environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and international reporting standards.
  • Proven capability in audit support and regulatory compliance documentation.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to apply technical knowledge in complex scenarios.
  • High level of efficiency in managing tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Very strong organisational skills, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborative attitude, working well in teams and supporting colleagues with a ‘can-do’ outlook.
  • Interest in business development and a desire to contribute to organisationally growth.
