Assistant Marina Manager
Hayling Island
Salary: £35,000
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Marina Manager to join a busy, high-profile marina and visitor destination on Hayling Island. Are you a Boatyard Manager ready for the next step? Or are you a customer-focused and operationally driven Marina individual ready to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a thriving waterfront and boatyard environment?
This position would suit someone with strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach, and experience in a hands-on role within a fast-paced operational setting. You must have boatyard/lifting experience.
The Role
As Assistant Marina Manager, you will support the overall operation of the marina and associated boatyard activities, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and presentation.
A key focus of this role will be the coordination and optimisation of berth bookings, ensuring efficient use of space and a seamless customer journey from enquiry through to arrival.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the daily operation of the marina and boatyard, coordinating and overseeing team activities
- Managing and coordinating berth bookings for annual customers and visitors, ensuring maximum occupancy and efficiency
- Overseeing and maintaining booking systems, ensuring accuracy of data and smooth customer journeys
- Assisting with staff rota planning to ensure effective site coverage
- Leading daily team briefings and supporting a positive team culture
- Ensuring all administrative and operational processes are completed accurately
- Supporting the coordination of boatyard operations, including vessel movements, lift/launch scheduling, and contractor activity where required
- Overseeing site and boatyard maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and well-presented environment
- Monitoring customer satisfaction and driving continuous improvement in service delivery
- Supporting the training, coaching, and development of team members
- Managing customer queries and escalating any issues where required

About You
We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual who thrives in a customer-facing, operational environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in a similar setting
- Experience in a Boatyard setting and experience in lifting
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage bookings, logistics, and customer flow effectively
- A hands-on approach with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and presentation
- Experience within a marina, boatyard, marine, leisure, or hospitality environment would be advantageous
- A practical understanding of boatyard operations (e.g., vessel handling, maintenance coordination, or working with marine contractors) is essential
