Assistant Medical Secretary
About the Role
Team QEH have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our Medical Secretariat Team. We are looking for an Assistant Medical Secretary to provide secretarial assistance to PA’s, Senior Medical Secretaries and Consultants. This position is a trainee post and there is potential for progression within the Secretariat.
Previous secretarial experience is desirable but not essential for this post.

Responsibilities
- Liaise with other colleagues in the team to contribute to the smooth running of the department.
- Be well organised and able to deal with the public efficiently and politely.
- Use the Patient Centre information system in accordance with Trust procedures in a timely way to assist in coordination of care pathways (training will be given).
Requirements
- Previous typing/word processing skills are desirable for this post although not essential.
- The desire to learn audio typing and medical terminology would be advantageous.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
