Assistant Merchandiser


Job Introduction

As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will:

  • Monitor supplier commitment
  • Make informed and strategic decisions
  • Provide key recommendations for our team of buyers
  • Proactively highlight issues and escalate them to the Merchandiser
  • Work collaboratively with the Allocator to ensure stock is in the right places at the right time, maximising full-price sell-through
  • Deliver weekly, seasonal, and ad-hoc reporting and analysis

Key Responsibilities

Stock Management & Allocation

  • Review stock levels by store (with support from the Allocator) and make recommendations
  • Oversee the re-ordering system for continuity products
  • Maintain and monitor DC stock levels, taking corrective action as needed
  • Collaborate with Retail Operations on any stock-related queries

Analysis & Strategy

  • Analyse OTB (Out-of-Tock) strategies and recommend commitment levels
  • Escalate key OTB issues to the Lead Merchandiser as required
  • Provide tailored FP (Fill Price) analysis for buyers, highlighting critical insights

Supplier & Brand Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with brand partners
  • Identify stock issues and negotiate appropriate stock actions with suppliers

Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce weekly, seasonal, and ad-hoc reports as required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of systems, including Retek, Excel, RMS, and RPM, to assess stock gaps

Coordinated Process Support

  • Proactively identify stock transfer opportunities
  • Oversee model stock and replenishment from the DC
  • Assist the Merchandiser in maintaining the WSSI (Weekly Stock Status Intake)

Sales & Logistics

  • Assist in sale setup and execution, serving as the key contact for Retail Operations
  • Support markdown management, monitoring stock transitions and planning against last year’s (LY) performance
  • Oversee the returns (RTV) process from start to finish
  • Monitor stock into sales, aligning with previous trends
