The School of Engineering invites applications for a Assistant or Associate Professor position in Power Electronic Converters and Devices on the Research and Teaching Pathway. You will develop and deliver research, publish high-impact manuscripts, and drive teaching innovation. The role focuses on Wide Bandgap (WBG) and/or Ultra-Wide Bandgap (Ultra-WBG) semiconductors—leading the research agenda for independent development in this area.
Your responsibility will include:
- Developing an internationally impactful and independent research initiative.
- Leading power electronic device/converter research, strategically enhancing the school’s strengths in power electronics and electronic materials.
- Strengthening collaborations with industries and academics.
- Exploring interdisciplinary opportunities.
- Aligning with the university’s Research Technology Platforms and existing research infrastructure.
Key Objective: Contribute both original research and real-world applications—bridging fundamental science, industrial needs, and disciplinary boundaries.
About You
Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic Requirement: A PhD in an applicable discipline.
For Assistant Professor:
- Demonstrate emerging independence in research capable of becoming internationally leading.
For Associate Professor:
- Already established as an independent researcher with substantial external funding.
- Proven excellence in research and teaching delivery.

- Focused on WBG/Ultra-WBG power semiconductor devices, converters, and systems.
- Strong leadership in research, evidenced by international anerkownledge and industry connections.
- Experience in:
- Design/modeling of WBG Ultra-WBG semiconductors.
- Power converter topology and control.
- Hardware implementation and hardware research.
- Relevance to electrification challenges: renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and sustainable transport.
- Leadership in hybrid scientific R&D bridging academia and industrial partnerships.
Teaching:
Ensure high-quality delivery on undergraduate/postgraduate programs, demonstrating adaptability to evolving pedagogy and technologies.

- Capability to contribute strategically to teaching—especially in areas like electrification, power systems, and WBG electronics.

About The Department
The School of Engineering:
Ranked as a global innovator, home to Research Clusters launched in Summer 2025, fostering world-class interdisciplinary research. Specifically, the Electrical Power and Control (EPC) Cluster—comprising at least 12 academics— focuses on:
- WBG power technology (device fabrication, epitaxy, modeling, device packaging, reliability).
- Novel applications, control, drives/smart energy, and system integration.
EPC Cluster Facilities:
- Manufacturing: Semiconductor Processing Cleanroom, Packaging & Assembly.
- Research Labs: **Power Electronics Applications, Power Systems & Control, Reliability Char.)
- Access Further: Voltage Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray CT, USP Analysis, NBF, etc. Check university Research Technology Platforms.
