Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager

SALARY: £27,779 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary £23,291 + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, 8.00am 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am 3.30pm Friday, term time only (38 weeks)

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager to support students within a specialist alternative provision in a successful secondary school environment.

As an Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager you will work closely with senior leaders, teachers and external agencies to provide behaviour support, safeguarding, student wellbeing and pastoral care for vulnerable learners who require additional support to achieve their potential.

The successful Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager will help deliver restorative practice strategies, personalised learning support and inclusive education programmes while supporting attendance, engagement, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour outcomes across the provision.

Duties

Your duties as the Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager include:

  • Supporting Students: Delivering tailored student support and pastoral care within the alternative provision environment
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing restorative practice and positive behaviour support strategies to improve engagement and wellbeing
  • Deputising for Leadership: Supporting the Assistant Pastoral and Inclusion Manager responsibilities in the absence of the Inclusion Manager
  • Learning Support: Assisting with personalised learning plans focused on academic, social and emotional development
  • Safeguarding Responsibilities: Promoting safeguarding, attendance and student welfare across the provision
  • Supporting Staff: Coaching colleagues on inclusive teaching strategies, behaviour support and restorative approaches
  • Student Wellbeing: Building positive relationships with students, parents, carers and external support agencies
  • Monitoring Progress: Supporting the review of student achievement, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing outcomes
  • Alternative Provision Support: Helping students who have struggled within mainstream education to re-engage with learning
  • Communication Duties: Maintaining effective communication with families and education professionals regarding student progress

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in pastoral support, behaviour support, student support or inclusion within secondary education
  • Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience supporting vulnerable students or students with additional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience implementing restorative practice or inclusion strategies
  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • A background in alternative provision, SEND or inclusion support
  • Previous experience as an Inclusion Lead, Learning Mentor or Behaviour Support professional
  • Experience supporting students with emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Ability to analyse student progress and support educational outcomes
  • Experience collaborating with external agencies and multidisciplinary teams
