About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a key member of senior staff within the Patient Safety and Assurance team. The role is diverse and touches upon a number of key Health Board functions including patient safety, incident management, assurance processes and regulator inspection action planning activity, including supporting clinical services to complete actions.

This role will support the assurance and governance of clinical / patient safety related to incidents, risks, external inspections and associated programmes of work.

As a senior member of the team, they will be required to deputise for the Patient Safety and Assurance Manager on occasion as required, ensuring continuation of the department’s functions.

The Post Holder Will

  • Support the co-ordination and oversight of the management of the investigation process of all serious patient safety incidents and incidents of high impact to the organisation.
  • Co-ordinate, undertake and advise on patient safety incident and other complex investigations or thematic reviews, including working with external reviewers.
  • Manage the Duty of Candour process for allocated incidents.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the Triumvirate Team and others on all issues relating to risk and safety. This will include drawing on their own clinical and professional knowledge and extensive experience.
  • Undertake patient safety incident and other complex investigations or reviews, within the scope of the service, ensuring they are managed in line with good practice and utilising established project management methodologies.
  • Utilise advanced clinical skills and extensive knowledge base to undertake specialist assessments, critically analysing complex information to make informed decisions regarding material to inform investigations to ensure high quality investigations.
