Assistant Plant Manager - Gorst (Exeter)

As Assistant Plant Manager at our Gorst Energy facility, you will play a central role in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable operations. This is a hands-on leadership position where your engineering expertise and people skills combine to drive performance and support the transition to a low-carbon future.
Summary Of What You Will Do
- Support the day-to-day operation of the AD plant, maximising efficiency, uptime and biogas output using SCADA and control systems.
- Coordinate team workloads and maintenance schedules to optimise productivity and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on planned and reactive maintenance of pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and electrical equipment.
- Manage feedstock deliveries, storage and dietary planning to ensure consistent process performance.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture through site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and liaise with regulatory bodies on all site obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop SOPs and support staff training and development.

What You Will Bring To The Role
- A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
- Proven experience in process plant operations and maintenance.
- Supervisory or management experience within an industrial or energy environment.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems and computerised maintenance management tools such as Fiix.
- Strong analytical, IT and data reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- A full UK driving licence.
Location
Gorst Energy AD Facility, on site. This is a full-time, site-based role with a 45-hour working week including occasional weekends and on-call availability as required.
