Talented people are the key to our success.
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Assistant Procurement Manager to join our Water Aviation Highways Team, dealing with Material, Plant and Subcontract procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver best value through effective procurement of subcontract packages and materials
- Place timely and comprehensive orders that protect business commercial interests
- Support pre-contract activities including supplier prequalification, tendering, and work-winning initiatives
- Manage and update procurement schedules, including reporting of buying gains and losses
- Collaborate with Procurement Managers to deliver procurement strategies across projects
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and procedures (including DELAPs)
- Build, maintain, and develop strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Drive supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement
- Contribute to the development and refresh of the supply chain database
- Support supply chain engagement through the Supply Chain Hub
- Gather and share market intelligence, including competitor and supplier insights
- Promote safe, sustainable, and high-performing supply chain practices
- Champion internal systems (e.g. iPortal) for supplier performance management
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or equivalent (desirable)
- Experience in procurement, tendering, or commercial activities
- Understanding of subcontractor and supplier terms and conditions
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, and supplier engagement
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Analytical thinker with sound decision-making capability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of construction practices and procurement processes (preferred)
- Ability to supervise small teams and influence outcomes

We work with major water companies to create resilient facilities, reduce flood risks, and improve environmental outcomes. Currently, we participate in the Welsh Water AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks and have secured projects with Wessex Water for the next five years. These long-term framework agreements are part of a national £88 billion investment, requiring a collaborative and agile approach to meet the industry's challenges.
We are also actively bidding works with Other Water and Environment Frameworks
Our Highways team delivers comprehensive services, from major national projects to local schemes, improving road journeys for millions daily.
With expertise in tunnelling, bridges, and more, we provide end-to-end project support, including design, integration, and construction. Current projects include concrete road replacements for National Highways and the Scheme Delivery Framework again for National Highways
Our Aviation Business has secured a new Framework with Gatwick Airport and looking for other opportunities
