The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work in one of the most exciting and growing sectors in the world – Africa’s power sector. The EnergyNet team, consisting of around 20 passionate individuals, thrive in a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Production to conceptualise, produce, and deliver EnergyNet’s portfolio of events.
About EnergyNet
EnergyNet is a multiple award-winning producer of investment conferences and news for Africa’s energy sector. Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, the longest-running flagship forum for decision-makers in Africa’s energy industry, which attracts:
- Over 25 Ministers of Energy
- Close to 3,000 participants annually
EnergyNet also organises region-specific investment meetings focusing on the power generation potential of emerging markets like:
- Cape Town
- Nairobi
- Barcelona
- Washington
- Accra
- Livingstone
About YES! (Youth in Energy Sector)
In 2025, EnergyNet launched YES!, a mission to empower African youth in careers within the energy sector by providing:
- Access to knowledge
- Industry connections EnergyNet hosted the largest-ever global youth energy conference, attracting 6,000 registrants in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Producer plays a pivotal role in the end-to-end event lifecycle, collaborating with production, sales, marketing, and operations teams to develop and deliver compelling events.
1. Content & Agenda Development
- Market Research
- Conduct desk and in-person research with industry professionals to identify:
- Emerging trends
- Market challenges
- Hot topics

- Assist in structuring commercially viable, audience-pulling conference agendas
- Write engaging session descriptions

2. Speaker Acquisition & Management
- Sourcing Speakers
- Identify, invite, and secure high-level industry figures, including:
- C-suite executives
- Ministers
- Government officials

- Prepare speaker briefing notes
- Conduct preparatory calls
- Oversee on-site speaker logistics during events
4. Collaboration with Teams
- Marketing Support
- Provide key content points, speaker quotes, and insights for:
- Promotional emails
- Reports
- Campaigns

- Work with delegate sales and sponsorship teams to ensure:
- Event delivers value to sponsors and attendees

Key Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
- Strong ability to grasp complex topics and translate them into commercial event agendas
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, with a flawless command of English for copywriting
- Confidence in:

- Ability to:
- Manage competeting deadlines
- Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for collaborative success and high-quality work
- Outstanding customer service skills in-person and by phone

- Bonus: Proficiency in French, Portuguese, or Spanish (not essential)
- Interest in Africa’s energy and infrastructure sector, with a willingness to learn
- Ability to travel internationally as required
