Our Client

Our client is a market leading manufacturer of products and solutions utilised within the construction industry.

Applicants to the Assistant Production Manager vacancy invited from a wide range of manufacturing backgrounds.

About the Role

With plans for multi million pound investment and a new state of the art manufacturing facility, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Production manager to drive the business forward, taking manufacturing operations to the next level for production, planning, quality, H & S and overall efficiency.

The business is part of a market-leading manufacturing group with multiple sites based across the UK. Working as part of the senior leadership team the Production Manager position is a senior level appointment, in which you will assume Manufacturing responsibility for one of their key operations, and multiple productions lines.

  • Leadership: Leadership of a team of circa 30 Operatives and 6 direct reports, 25 indirect reports, heavily automated process whilst seeking process implementation where possible
  • Development: The development and promotion of lean manufacturing techniques, such as 5s, 6 sigma, VSM, SMED, TPM, OEE etc, across manufacturing operations
  • People Management: Including the motivation and mentoring of your team to effectively problem solve and develop their careers, aligning the right level of leadership to drive the site and manufacturing lines forward
  • Quality and Efficiency: To drive OTIF and ensure quality is maintained at every step of the manufacturing process

Qualifications and Experience Needed

  • Experience: Previous experience within a senior production/ manufacturing leadership position, e.g. Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, Shift Operations Manager, Shift Production Manager, Production Lead, etc
  • Skills: Leadership and people management skills and the ability to build, motivate, develop and improve teams. The ability to lead production activities, KPI metrics, analysing results to recommend & implement required improvements in performance
  • Environment: Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing / engineering environment, practically implementing continuous improvement tools and techniques - Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Commitment: It is essential that applicants to this vacancy are committed to a program of both personal and career development within the business
  • Reporting: The position reports to the Site Operations Manager and provides a high level of influence and autonomy within the business, along with opportunities for both personal and career development.
