Assistant Programme Manager
Assistant Programme Manager – Digital Infrastructure
Business Unit: Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure Location: Glasgow (with travel to regional offices and sites in the UK as required)
About the Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive Assistant Programme Manager to support the successful delivery of major projects through effective programme planning, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. Working closely with the Glasgow-based PMO team and reporting directly to the Programme Manager, you will assist in developing, maintaining, and reporting on project programmes across both pre-construction and construction phases.
The ideal candidate will bring strong planning, communication, and analytical skills, with experience using programme management software and working in a project management environment.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Support the Programme Manager and PMO team in developing, maintaining, and updating overall project programmes.
- Develop and maintain outline schedules for projects during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Monitor contractor programmes and progress against approved baseline programmes.
- Track project performance, identify programme risks, delays, and intervention areas.
- Assist in the production and compilation of weekly and monthly client reports.
- Maintain and update project progress trackers to support discussions with clients and project teams.
- Collaborate with PMO members and Project Managers to gather programme updates.
- Ensure timely delivery of project documentation and achievement of milestones.
- Provide programme-related analysis and reporting to guide decision-making.

Requirements
Essential
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., APM PMQ or Prince 2), complemented by a relevant CSCS card.
- An HNC/HND in infrastructure, construction, project management, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in programme management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asta Powerproject).
- Strong commercial awareness – understanding programme impacts on cost, risk, and project strategy.
- Flexibility to manage fluctuating workloads, multiple assignments, and tight deadlines.
- IT literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat).
- DV-level security clearance (essential).
- Availability to travel to regional offices and sites in the UK as required.
- Full-time, office-based working (early decision availability).
Desired
- Experience in Digital Infrastructure, Wireless, Defence, or Renewable Energy.
- Experience in multi-site project delivery with sensitive/business-critical projects.
