About The Role

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution (Power T&D) is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Project Manager – Substations to support the successful delivery of major electricity infrastructure projects at Laleham Substation.

Working alongside the Project Manager and wider project team, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating and delivering substation construction and refurbishment works safely, on time, and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their project management career within one of the UK's leading infrastructure businesses.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the Project Manager in the delivery of substation projects from initiation through to commissioning and handover.
  • Assisting with project planning, programme management and progress monitoring.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, reports and documentation.
  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Supporting project governance activities, reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with risk, issue and opportunity management processes.
  • Monitoring project performance against programme, quality and cost targets.
  • Supporting procurement and supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Promoting Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Experience supporting the delivery of engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of project management principles and controls.
  • Experience implementing safe systems of work.
  • Experience managing risks and change processes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Desirable

  • Experience within power, utilities, substations, transmission or distribution projects.
  • Membership of a professional body such as APM.
  • Working towards or holding an APM PFQ, PMQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or related discipline.
  • CSCS and SSSTS (or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
