Assistant Project Manager

Location:

This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (2- 3 days in office a week – Bradford/Leeds)

Work type:

Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Project Manager to join the Direct Procure for Customer – Major Project Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity. You’ll be at the heart of delivering one of Yorkshire Water’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects within a £2.5Bn programme that will transform water resilience across Yorkshire. This isn’t just project coordination– it’s about shaping the future of water services and sustainability for generations to come. You'll be at the heart of regulatory delivery, stakeholder engagement, and project Support.

Where you fit in:

As our Assistant Project Manager, you will:

  • Support with the planning, coordination and successful delivery of key project and programme activities.
  • Track the progress and proactively managing risks, actions, dependencies and lessons learned.
  • Maintain strong programme governance, ensuring compliance and control processes are followed.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and communications to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Manage project documentation, records and reporting to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Support the team onboarding and providing guidance on programme processes and systems.
  • Assist with budget tracking, supplier management, contracts, invoices and purchase orders through internal systems.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • A proactive self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and effectively manages their own workload.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Have a data-driven approach, with the ability to identify, gather, and analyse information to support decision-making and insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • The ability to influence and guide others in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the capability to develop and maintain effective partnerships both internally and externally.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a proactive approach to supporting colleagues and driving positive outcomes across the business.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering large-scale programmes or projects.
  • Knowledge of water industry regulations and legislation.
  • Experience within water, wastewater, utilities, manufacturing, or process industries.
  • Commercially aware, with experience working in a business-focused environment.
