Assistant Project Manager

Assistant Project Manager – Kickstart Your Project Management Career

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of technical and engineering projects for clients across both the public and private sectors. Working closely with Senior Project Managers and multidisciplinary technical teams, you’ll contribute to project planning, governance, financial management, and delivery while developing your own project management expertise.


Your Impact in This Position

From day one, you’ll play an active role in supporting project delivery:

  • Help teams achieve programme objectives
  • Meet client expectations
  • Ensure high-quality outcomes

You’ll manage smaller projects independently while assisting on larger, more complex programmes, gaining valuable experience across a broad range of sectors and disciplines.

Core Capabilities

Project Coordination & Delivery

  • Support successful delivery of projects to agreed timescales, budgets, and quality standards
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and project administration

Risk & Change Management

  • Identify, monitor, and manage project risks, issues, and changes
  • Support teams in maintaining effective controls and governance

Financial & Commercial Awareness

  • Monitor project performance and financial reporting
  • Assist with invoicing, forecasting, and project reviews

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with project teams, technical specialists, and clients
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across all stakeholders

Continuous Learning & Development

  • Proactively embrace learning and professional growth
  • Work towards APM (Association for Project Management) qualifications, fully supported by the business

Requirements

Training, Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong interest in project management and long-term career development
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive, organised, and eager to learn
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Eligible for security clearance
