Assistant Project Manager – Construction

About the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager – Construction at our Rosyth site, you’ll support the successful delivery of critical construction, infrastructure, and engineering projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.
You’ll work closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders, gaining practical experience and accelerating your professional development within one of the UK’s leading engineering organisations.
Main Responsibilities
Daily, your core duties include:
- Supporting project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking across multiple construction activities.
- Coordinating contractors and site activities, including inspections, permits, and work within live operational environments.
- Monitoring project costs and budgets; managing contractor payments and key project documentation.
- Assisting with health and safety, such as toolbox talks, RAMS reviews, and CDM compliance.
- Managing project reporting, risk, and change registers while supporting stakeholder engagement and issue resolution.

- Experience supporting the delivery of construction, infrastructure, or facilities projects.
- Familiarity with site-based environments, including the coordination of technical trades.
- Understanding of core project management principles, including planning, cost control, reporting, and risk management.
- Clear knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly CDM 2015 or equivalent standards.
- Background in an engineering, construction, or related technical discipline.
Qualifications & Training
- Qualification: HNC or HND in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
- Bonus Points: A degree in Construction, Engineering, or allied disciplines is highly desirable.
- Further Study: Ideally working towards an APM qualification or equivalent.
- Health & Safety: Recommendation of an IOSH Managing Safely (or similar) certification.
- Industry Experience: History in construction or infrastructure projects enhances eligibility.
Security Clearance
A thorough Security Check (SC) clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role. Applicants should review the UK Security Vetting guidelines on GOV.UK for eligibility details, as citizenship, residency, and employment history may affect eligibility.
