Assistant Project Manager
Location: Cornwall - Liskeard (Office Based)
Job Type: Full-time - Flexibility available for the right candidate.
Sector: High-End Residential Construction
Salary: £26,000.00 - £38,000.00 per year
About Us
We are a Cornwall-based construction company specialising in the delivery of one-off bespoke homes for private clients. Every project is unique, and we take pride in creating exceptional homes with outstanding attention to detail, quality, and customer service.
We are looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of our projects from commencement through to handover.
The Role
Working closely with our Site Managers, subcontractors, and clients, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring construction projects to ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong construction knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update project programmes using Microsoft Project.
- Work closely with Site Managers to coordinate labour and subcontractors, ensuring the right trades are on site at the right time.
- Monitor project progress against programme milestones and proactively address delays.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and maintain project budgets.
- Chase subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are completed in accordance with agreed programmes.
- Organise and lead weekly progress meetings with Site Managers, recording actions and following up on outstanding items.
- Communicate regularly with clients, explaining project schedules and providing updates on progress and any programme changes.
- Assist with procurement and scheduling activities throughout the build process.
- Prepare and compile comprehensive project handover packs, including manuals, certificates, warranties, and relevant documentation.
- Support the wider project management team in delivering exceptional customer service and project outcomes.

Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience within the construction industry, ideally in a project coordination, assistant project management, site management, or similar role.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Project and project scheduling.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and trade coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:
- Experience working on high-end residential or bespoke housing projects.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes.
