East region (Hub: Peterborough)
Working pattern: Hybrid (on-site minimum 3 days a week)
Travel: Regular (within region inc. central hub in Peterborough), with some overnight stays as required
Location requirement: Based within the East region and within a reasonable travelling distance of operational sites

About The Role
Help deliver the projects that keep Britain's gas network running safely and reliably.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll support the delivery of electrical and instrumentation projects, helping ensure they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification. Working alongside Project Managers, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving critical energy infrastructure.
Why this role matters
Within the East Project Delivery team, you'll help deliver investments that keep the gas transmission network safe, resilient and fit for the future.
You'll support project delivery from design through to completion, helping manage risks, contractors, costs, and performance. Your work will contribute directly to projects that have a lasting impact on the UK's energy infrastructure.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and seeing projects successfully delivered.
What you'll be doing
- Support the delivery of electrical and instrumentation projects
- Coordinate contractors and project teams
- Monitor project risks, costs, schedules, and performance
- Produce project reports and progress updates
- Support project planning and delivery activities
- Work closely with Site Supervisors to monitor contractor performance
- Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance

About You
You'll have experience supporting project delivery in an engineering, construction, or infrastructure environment. You'll be organised, proactive, and able to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Essential
Key requirements & experience
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in engineering, project management, or a related discipline
- Experience supporting electrical and instrumentation project delivery
- Knowledge of project management principles, including risk, cost, and programme management
- Basic knowledge of NEC contracts
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities
- Willingness to work towards APMP and NEC4 accreditation
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience in gas quality and telemetry replacement projects
- Previous Project Management or Assistant Project Management experience
- Experience within the gas, utilities, or energy sector
- Knowledge of contract management within fixed-price or target-cost contracts

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
