We are proud to have been appointed to all three Flood Risk and Asset Management (FRAM) Lots, the first to be announced under the UK Government Commercial Agency’s Construction Professional Services 2 (CPS2) Framework.

The award deepens our 24-year partnership with the Environment Agency, through delivering our expert technical, environmental, and commercial programme services across flood and coastal risk management. We will support the Environment Agency in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of its record investment programme, reducing flood risk, and delivering projects that protect communities and benefit the environment.

We are seeking Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers, with a history of delivering in the Water industry to join our Infrastructure Project Management team to work on the FRAM across our North, Midlands, and Scotland Regions, operating from 8 regional offices.

Our growth trajectory is strong, supported by a robust pipeline of projects, and you will be joining a growing team of like-minded professionals passionate for innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.

As a Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager, you will be expected to work with a Senior Project Manager / Associate to successfully manage, coordinate, and deliver challenging water infrastructure projects across the project lifecycle from initial inception through design, procurement, to site delivery and commissioning phases.


Responsibilities

As an Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager, you will be expected to:

  • Work as part of or lead a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects throughout the project delivery lifecycle, including option studies, option development, construction tender support, NEC contract administration, and on-site delivery.
  • Support Project Management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
    • Participate in appropriate meetings (minuting) and proactively engage in discussions.
    • Contribute to Project Exception Pipeline (PEP), collate progress reports, assist with procurement strategies and tender documentation, as well as general post-contract management and administration.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with scope of service and proactive dispute resolution.
  • Perform client-side project management, including stakeholder, health & safety (H&S), risk, quality, schedule, and contract management.
  • Support projects and commissions being delivered to client satisfaction in terms of quality, cost, and time.
  • Manage the project team to ensure appropriate resources and alignment with client and business requirements.
  • Oversee the delivery of project management team outputs, adhering to agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Provide contract management services on NEC4 contracts, administering through a contract management system.
  • Offer procurement strategy advice and review tender documentation.
  • Provide effective mentorship to Graduates and Apprentices.
  • Be passionate about innovation and bold ideas.

Requirements

Qualifications

For your professional development, here’s what you bring to the position:

  • Infrastructure project management experience (Water industry experience essential)
  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the NEC Professional Services Contract (PSC) and NEC Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) (ideally working towards NEC ECC Accreditation)
  • Experience working as part of an integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Relationship-building skills with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Proactive sense of initiative, able to work both independently and collaboratively with Senior Project Managers / Associates.
  • A team player with a polished can-do attitude, descriptive traits including outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, respectful, and flexible.
  • Strong IT proficiency and the ability to utilize current digital tools.
  • Exceptional numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage both internal and external relationships.
  • Readiness to develop professionally and progress career growth.

Education, Professional Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of experience in a consulting environment providing a full spectrum of PM services, such as:
    • Chairing meetings
    • Minute taking / active engagement in discussions
    • PEP and progress report development
    • Developing tender documentation
    • Post-contract support and administration
    • Proactive stakeholder engagement aligned with the agreed scope.
  • A relevant degree (e.g., project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or related subjects).
  • Familiarity and experience with the NEC professional services contracts (PSC and ECC).
  • Preferable project management qualifications, such as APM PMQ or PRINCE2.
  • Desirable professional affiliation or membership within related license bodies (e.g., APM, CIOB), preferably chartered.
  • Security screening checks may be required.
