The Opportunity
Amey is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) team.
Working within one of the UK's most highly regulated and technically complex environments, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe and successful delivery of multiple construction, engineering, and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with Project Managers, contractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders, helping to coordinate activities on site, monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standards.
Whether you're looking to take the next step in your project management career or build on existing site delivery experience, this is an opportunity to gain exposure to major projects while contributing to important work that supports the UK's nuclear decommissioning programme.
What You'll Do
- Support Project Managers in the successful delivery of multiple concurrent construction and engineering projects.
- Act as Amey's dedicated site presence, coordinating day-to-day project activities and contractor operations.
- Monitor project progress against programme, identifying and escalating risks, issues, and potential delays.
- Coordinate contractors and supply chain partners to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed plans.
- Carry out site inspections, safety observations, and quality checks to maintain high standards of delivery.
- Review project documentation including RAMS, permits to work, and construction records.
- Support daily briefings, toolbox talks, and contractor coordination meetings.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements across all project activities.
- Assist with project reporting, documentation, programme updates, and performance tracking.
- Support the identification and management of project changes, Early Warnings, and Compensation Events.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors, designers, and the wider project team.
- Champion Amey's Zero Code and promote a strong behavioral safety culture across site activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
