The Role
Based at our Finham (Coventry) office, the Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Managers by delivering high-quality projects (initially lower-risk/lower-complexity), with responsibility for financial oversight, risk management and stakeholder engagement. Key tasks include:
- Taking ownership of your projects, driving deliverables forward
- Partnering with mid to senior leadership to influence best outcomes
- Proactively managing individual budgets for projects
- Financial management and contingency allocation
This role offers variety, growth opportunities, and strong mentorship—alongside the fulfilling knowledge of contributing to safe water supplies across the UK.
About the Role
Within our Capital Delivery department, you will focus on delivering operational projects (e.g., capital schemes, programme delivery) by:
- Running smaller, high-impact projects independently (under guidance)
- Risk management: Identifying and mitigating challenges early
- Stakeholder liaison: Balancing internal and external relationships at multiple levels
- Financial oversight: Adhering to project budgets and forecasting needs

What You’ll Bring to the Role
We’re looking for someone with:
- Practical experience: While knowledge of NEC (New Engineering Contract) or formal qualifications (e.g., APM/Prince2) is helpful, it’s not essential. Critical is a spirit of continuous learning.
- Communications & stakeholder engagement: Strong ability to listening and influence both internally and externally.
- Problem-solving: Experience in anticipating challenges and finding innovative solutions.
- Performance mindset: Commitment to delivering on time/deliverables with a results-driven attitude.
- Unrestricted UK full driving licence: Mandatory for operational roles within our remit.
