Assistant Project Manager (Offshore Transmission Project Delivery) – Permanent | Full-Time | Flexible First
Base Location: Requires successful applicants to be based in one of our Scottish offices—Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, Orkney or Perth—with 50% on-site presence.
Salary & Benefits: Circa £40,000 + car/vehicle allowance + performance-related bonus + comprehensive benefits package (financial, wellbeing, and family support).
About the Role
SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Delivery Team is recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to spearhead a High Voltage AC (HVAC) project critical to Scotland’s Net-Zero ambitions—delivered on Scottish Islands.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll lead project execution through construction, commissioning, energisation, and full handover to Operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Interface management & stakeholder collaboration
- Contractor performance oversight (HSE, compliance, cost/budget control)
- Tool monitoring (PowerBI/CSM) and project reporting
- Supporting skills development within the offline-to-online energy transition

Key Responsibilities
Steering Project Interfaces
- Coordinate and resolve project interfaces with contractors, design teams, and internal/relevant stakeholders (O&M, consenting).
- Cultivate strong working relationships, aligning deliverables with SSE values and stakeholder expectations.
Ensuring Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Actively monitor contractor performance against HMGO regulations (CDM 2015, H&S 1974), and HSE standards.
- Champion SSE’s Golden Rules and Health, Safety, Environment & Wellbeing policies.

Cost & Schedule Management
- Assist in programme management, budget control, and cost tracking to keep projects on-schedule and within budget.
