Assistant Psychologist
Assistant Psychologist
Location: Lancashire (covering all sites, with some travel to Yorkshire)
Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week Monthly Salary: £27,000 (equivalent to approximately £24,300 annually)
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
About the Role
To ensure consistency in care delivery, applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK for a minimum of 18 months from their agreed start date. We regret that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship. Applications that do not meet these criteria will not be considered further.
We are recruiting an aspiring and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our Clinical Team in Lancashire, working full time across 5 days.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs, including:
- Personality disorders
- Autism
- Learning disabilities
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver recovery-focused care and help people increase independence and live more fulfilling lives. You will work closely with Qualified Psychologists and therapy teams, supporting evidence-based psychological interventions.

Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Psychologist, your role includes:
- Assisting in psychological assessments under the supervision of a qualified psychologist
- Supporting Qualified Psychologists and Occupational Therapists in delivering therapeutic interventions, working in both:
- 1:1 sessions
- Group settings
- Planning and facilitating structured, recovery-focused activities that:
- Promote independence
- Enhance social inclusion
- Supporting individuals to:
- Apply therapeutic skills to everyday life
- Achieve long-term, meaningful outcomes
- Contributing to:
- Care planning
- Risk management
- Ongoing progress reviews for service users
- Maintaining accurate and professional clinical records and reports
- Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team, including:
- Attending team meetings
- Sharing progress updates
- Supporting positive behaviour approaches
- Promoting person-centred, strengths-based care
About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A degree in Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society, with an interest in mental health services
- Experience of working with individuals who have:
- Mental health needs
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including:
- Ability to build therapeutic relationships
- Strong understanding of:
- Psychological models
- Recovery-focused care approaches
- Strong organisational skills with:
- Ability to maintain accurate clinical records
- A compassionate, professional approach with:
- Genuine commitment to improving lives
