Assistant Psychologist – Adult Mental Health Services
Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Psychologist with strong interpersonal skills and prior experience working with individuals.

Successful candidates will receive mentorship and strong support within North Wales Adult Mental Health (AMH) Clinical Psychology & Psychological Therapies, closely linked to the DCLINPSYCH training course at the University of Wales, Bangor. This role is ideal for candidates pursuing a psychology career.
Location: Full-time role in the Central area of North Wales.
Main Duties
- Learning and supporting psychological therapies under supervision, aligned with the stepped care model (Matrics Cymru). Focus on assisting qualified mental health staff working with individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges.
- Work closely with qualified clinical psychologists, receiving supervision and clinical oversight.
- Enjoy opportunities to develop skills in:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches
- Group work modalities
- Contribute to service evaluations, audits, and projects.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and other relevant meetings where needed.

Qualifications & Key Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- 2:1 honours degree in Psychology or equivalent for overseas-trained candidates
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society
Desirable Criteria
- Attendance at relevant skills development courses or related training
Experience
Essential Criteria
- Direct experience working with individuals with mental health needs or complex conditions
- Practical understanding of therapeutic work or developmental assessments
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of a range of mental health difficulties
- Extensive experience providing therapeutic interventions across different clinical/social care settings
- Evidence of involvement in group work
