Assistant Psychologist

Band 5 | Part Time – 26.25 hours per week (0.7 WTE)
Fixed Term – 11 months (until 30 August 2027)
Sussex Education Centre | Hove
£32,073 – £39,043 pro rata

  • Psychology graduates (2:1 or above) with:
  • Postgraduate research experience
  • Experience working with people experiencing severe mental health difficulties
  • Strong communication, research and organisational skills
  • Excellent IT and data management skills
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

The role

As an Assistant Psychologist, you'll deliver psychological sleep interventions as part of the Sleeping Better clinical trial while supporting participant recruitment and wider research activity.

You'll:

  • Deliver specialist CBT-based sleep interventions under supervision
  • Build therapeutic relationships with study participants
  • Support recruitment and screening for the research trial
  • Maintain accurate clinical and research records
  • Attend supervision, training and fidelity meetings
  • Work alongside NHS clinical teams and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Contribute to high-quality clinical research within psychosis services

About the service

Based within Sussex Partnership's Research & Development Department, you'll join the Sleeping Better trial — a major Wellcome Trust-funded programme investigating psychological treatments for sleep difficulties in young people at ultra-high risk of psychosis and people living with psychosis.

Working alongside experienced researchers and clinical psychologists, you'll receive specialist supervision while contributing to nationally significant mental health research.

Based at the Sussex Education Centre, Hove, with travel across Sussex to community and clinical settings.

  • Community and clinic-based work across Sussex
  • Travel required (full driving licence essential)
