Assistant Psychologists in the Paediatric Psychosocial Service (PPS)
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a full time Assistant Psychologists in the Paediatric Psychosocial Service (PPS), part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (MFT) CAMHS which sits within the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH)
This full-time fixed term post involves work in supporting both the Pain team and the Complication from Excess Weight (CEW) within the PPS team Manchester University NHS foundation trust. The role will include psychological assessment and intervention of children within these two areas. The postholder will be required to participate and support service evaluation for clinical services and participation in general duties within the Department of Paediatric Psychosocial Services.
The CEW part of the post involves working with this specialist service at RMCH, which is one of two centres in the North West offering specialist multidisciplinary input to children with these difficulties.
The Pain team is an outpatient chronic pain service which delivers both individual and group psychological interventions.
The post holder will need to feel comfortable working within a hospital environment and discussing a range of medical aspects. One component of the post involves linking in with the multi-disciplinary team and completing screening questionnaires with children and families to help identify those who might benefit from further psychological assessment. Both services offer inpatient and outpatient services, with many opportunities for MDT working.

The successful candidates would hold a good Honours Degree in Psychology (at least Class 2 Division 1), have a good knowledge of developmental and abnormal psychology, a clear understanding of psychological theory and interventions, and experience in working with children presenting with psychological problems.
