Liverpool & Sefton Perinatal Mental Health Team

Liverpool & Sefton Perinatal Mental Health Team is seeking a caring, competent Assistant Psychologist to join our supportive and highly valued multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Clinical Psychologists and other healthcare professionals, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychological care for service users within a community setting.

As part of a welcoming and collaborative team, you will support psychological assessments, deliver one-to-one and group interventions under supervision, and work with individuals experiencing a range of complex mental health and emotional difficulties.

The role also provides opportunities to contribute to research, audit, service development and staff support initiatives, while developing your own clinical and professional skills through regular supervision and continuing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting psychological assessments through the use of psychometric tests, structured observations, interviews and outcome measures.
  • Assisting in the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions, both individually and in group settings, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
  • Providing one-to-one support and consultations with service users within agreed care plans and professional boundaries.
  • Preparing clinical reports, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with professional and Trust standards.
  • Contributing to the planning and facilitation of therapeutic groups.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and supporting collaborative care planning.
  • Assisting with service development, quality improvement, audit and research projects, including data collection, analysis and report writing.
  • Undertaking literature reviews to support evidence-based practice.
  • Engaging in regular clinical supervision, training and continuing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Supporting the promotion of high standards of care, equality, diversity, confidentiality and health and safety across the service.
