Frame and Finish Ltd. is a growing company in the construction and finishing sector, committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious Assistant QS & Commercial Administrator to join our expanding team to support our operational and project administration functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Administration within a fast-paced and supportive business.
Role
The Assistant QS & Commercial Admin will play a key role in providing commercial and administrative support to the Managing Director and Business Manager, assisting with the financial and contractual management of projects from tender stage through to final account, whilst supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.
The successful candidate will support the commercial management of projects, maintain accurate project records, assist with cash flow and cost control, and provide business administration support across the organisation.
This role would suit a commercially aware senior administrator, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or construction professional seeking to develop their commercial career.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support
- Assist in the preparation of estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Support the pricing, issuing, recording, and tracking of Variations (VOs).
- Maintain variation registers and ensure all changes are captured and communicated.
- Prepare and submit client applications for payment.
- Monitor project costs and assist with cost reporting.
- Track project profitability and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting across live projects.
- Support the preparation of final accounts.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Issue and manage contractual notices in accordance with subcontract and client requirements.
- Assist with procurement and management of supply chain commercial packages.
- Support subcontractor administration, including orders, payment assessments, and account reconciliation.

Financial Administration
- Upload supplier invoices to the company's accounting and payment systems.
- Assist with weekly and monthly payment processes.
- Support payroll administration by collating and processing relevant information.
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
- Assist with reconciliation of project costs against budgets.
Business Administration
- Provide general administrative support to the Managing Director and Business Manager.
- Maintain project files and document control systems.
- Assist with reporting, data entry, and business performance tracking.
- Support the preparation of meeting minutes and action trackers where required.
- Manage correspondence and ensure records are maintained in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of company systems and processes.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience in commercial administration, project administration, estimating, or quantity surveying.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of financial processes.
Desirable
- Confidence working with CRM tools (experience with Monday.com is an advantage).
- Experience within construction, fit-out, interiors, ceilings, partitions, joinery, or related sectors.
- Experience working within a commercial, estimating, quantity surveying, or project administration role.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and contractual procedures.
- Experience with accounting or project management software. (XERO experience would be advantageous)
- Understanding of applications, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

Working Hours
Monday to Thursday 8.00am-5.00pm
Friday 8.00am to 2.00pm
(Some flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.)
Location
Based primarily at our Driffield office with regular travel to our Hull office and occasional visits to project sites as required.

Salary
Competitive, dependent upon experience.
