About The Role
Location: Your contractual base will be Wellingborough, Northampton, and you will be required to attend the office a minimum of one day per week, with travel to other office locations as required.

At Balfour Beatty, we deliver the infrastructure that supports communities across the UK. We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and support the successful delivery of our projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate or someone in the final stages of their degree looking to develop their career within a leading infrastructure business. You'll work alongside experienced commercial professionals, gaining hands-on experience across cost management, procurement, commercial administration, and project delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the commercial team in managing project costs and maximising value.
- Measuring, recording, and valuing completed works in accordance with company procedures.
- Assisting with the preparation of cost reconciliation statements and commercial reporting.
- Gathering and analysing construction cost data.
- Supporting procurement activities, including the preparation and collation of procurement documentation.
- Assisting with subcontractor measurement, valuations, and agreements.
- Supporting weekly and monthly works programmes.
- Using company systems to manage project and commercial information.
- Maintaining accurate records and project documentation.
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams to support successful project delivery.
Who we're looking for
Essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to travel to different offices.

Desirable
- Previous construction, infrastructure, or engineering industry experience.
- Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor.
- Industry placement, internship, or relevant work experience.
- Working towards professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or ICES.
- Knowledge of commercial management and procurement processes.
