About The Role
This role is based within Esh-Stantec, a joint venture between Esh Construction and sustainable design and engineering firm, Stantec. Esh-Stantec works in partnership with Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) as a Living Water Enterprise supply partner and provides an end-to-end solution for water and wastewater capital infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a large and friendly team, to support the commercial management of projects by assisting with measurement, valuation, cost control, and subcontract administration, while developing core quantity surveying skills within a structured team environment.

What We Will Expect From You
The candidate shall be able to:
Measurement & Valuation Support
- Assist with measurement of works on site and from drawings
- Maintain accurate records of works completed
- Support preparation of:
- Interim valuations
- Final accounts
Cost Control & Reporting
- Assist in monitoring project costs and budgets
- Support preparation of:
- Cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
- Subcontract liability reports
- Contribute to financial reporting and cost tracking
Contract Administration
- Assist in administering subcontracts in line with contract conditions (e.g. NEC)
- Support management of:
- Variations / compensation events
- Dayworks and change records
- Assist with issuing payment notices and maintaining records
Subcontractor Management
- Support procurement of subcontractors, including pre-order processes
- Assist in assessing subcontractor applications for payment
- Help manage subcontract accounts and maintain commercial records

Project Support
- Work closely with Site Managers and project teams
- Monitor progress and report impacts on cost and programme
- Attend project meetings and contribute to reporting requirements
Change & Variation Support
- Assist in identifying and recording variations
- Support evaluation of changes and provisional sums
- Maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes
Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and reporting timelines
- Support audit and governance requirements

Qualifications
- 5 GCSE (Grade A-C or 4-9) or equivalent including Maths and English
- Relevant qualification (e.g. HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar)
- Basic understanding of contract conditions (e.g. NEC, JCT)
- Some experience in construction or placement year (desirable)
