Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Locations: Hull or York
An established engineering and construction business is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a supportive commercial team, working on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.
The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial management of complex engineering projects from tender through to final account, gaining exposure to high-value contracts within a highly regulated environment.
The Role
Reporting into a Senior QS, you will assist with the financial and contractual management of multiple projects while developing your commercial knowledge and quantity surveying skills.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with interim valuations and applications for payment
- Supporting the negotiation of final accounts
- Producing cost value reconciliations and internal commercial reports
- Assisting with technical estimates and project cost analysis
- Measuring materials from technical drawings and specifications
- Maintaining commercial documentation including contracts, bonds, warranties, and retention records
- Supporting commercial reporting through the company's management systems
- Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors on larger and more complex projects
- Identifying opportunities to improve commercial processes and project delivery
About You
Applicants should ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Previous experience as a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- The ability to understand technical drawings and construction terminology
- A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop
