The Opportunity
We’re looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Engineering business unit in Warrington, supporting the CRT (Canals & River Trust) M&E Maintenance & Renewals portfolio.
This role has been created to strengthen the commercial team and support the successful delivery of a growing portfolio, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to key commercial activities while developing core Quantity Surveying skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial career within a specialist engineering environment, gaining exposure to live infrastructure frameworks and working alongside experienced professionals.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial team across a busy portfolio of engineering works:
- Assist with commercial administration and cost tracking across multiple projects
- Support Quantity Surveyors with valuations, cost reporting and forecasting (CVRs)
- Aid in the preparation of final accounts and change control processes
- Assist with subcontractor administration, procurement and payment processes
- Collate and manage project documentation and commercial records
- Work closely with operational teams to gather and validate project data
- Help streamline processes to improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden on the wider QS team

About You
We’re looking for an organised and proactive individual who is keen to build a career in quantity surveying within an engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in a commercial, engineering or construction environment
- Exposure to civils, mechanical or electrical engineering projects
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- A keen interest in commercial management and cost control
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management (or similar)
- CSCS card (or working towards)
Key Skills
- Civils / Engineering awareness
- Commercial and financial understanding
- Electrical / M&E exposure (advantageous)
- Strong administrative capability
- Attention to detail and ability to manage data effectively
