Company Description
Simply Race is one of the UK’s leading motorsport simulator venues, offering immersive racing experiences across 15 linked simulators.
Our Manchester venue welcomes individuals, families, children’s parties, corporate groups, and private events.
Guests can experience the excitement of motorsport in a safe, controlled, and accessible environment suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities, subject to our minimum height requirement.
We host a variety of events, including corporate team building, product launches, birthday parties, private celebrations, and organized race experiences. With a licensed bar, flexible event packages, and a passionate team, we focus on delivering realistic simulator racing alongside excellent customer service.
Role Description
We are looking for a friendly, confident, and enthusiastic Assistant Race Director to join the team at Simply Race Manchester.
This is a part-time, on-site role supporting the smooth operation of public racing sessions, children’s parties, corporate events, and private bookings.
You will be one of the first people our guests meet, helping them feel welcomed, comfortable, and ready to enjoy their experience. The role combines customer service, event delivery, simulator operation, and basic technical support.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming guests and assisting with check-in
- Asking customers about their previous sim racing experience
- Explaining simulator controls, race formats, and venue rules
- Recommending suitable cars and circuits based on a guest’s experience
- Adjusting simulator seats, pedals, steering wheels, and settings
- Delivering clear safety and session briefings
- Monitoring races and helping sessions run to schedule
- Supporting children’s parties, corporate bookings, and large group events
- Assisting with event setup and breakdown
- Answering customer questions and resolving minor issues
- Carrying out basic simulator and computer troubleshooting
- Supporting licensed bar duties when required
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming venue
- Assisting with promotional activity and customer engagement
- Working closely with the Race Director and wider venue team

Who We Are Looking For
We would like to hear from applicants who have:

- Confidence speaking with individuals, families, and larger groups
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to give clear instructions in a friendly and professional manner
- Good organizational and time management skills
- The ability to remain calm and helpful in a busy environment
- Basic computer literacy and confidence learning new systems
- A reliable, punctual, and proactive approach to work
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Additional availability during school holidays and busy summer periods
Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, leisure, events, or entertainment would be beneficial, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided.

Physical Requirements
The role involves being active throughout a shift and may include:
- Standing for extended periods
- Adjusting simulator seats, pedals, and steering wheels
- Moving equipment safely
- Assisting with event setup and breakdown
All duties must be carried out in line with the venue’s health and safety procedures.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be aged 18 or over due to alcohol sales and licensed bar duties.
Due to the nature of the business and regular interaction with children and young people, the successful applicant will be required to complete an appropriate DBS check, subject to the role’s eligibility and relevant safeguarding requirements. Any offer of employment may be subject to a satisfactory outcome.
