Relais & Chateau at Thornbury Castle are seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our hard-working and professional Food & Beverage Team. You will be working in a unique and beautifully restored Castle and be someone who has the passion to deliver truly memorable and impressive 5* experiences for our guests.
About Us
- Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England.
- The Castle has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, bringing back the regal grandeur of its past.
- Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers:
- 26 rooms and suites
- An award-winning restaurant, bar, and two unique meeting/conference spaces

- 1 Michelin Key Hotel and 3AA Rosette Restaurant.
Job Description
- Full-time permanent position – 40 hours per week, with evening shifts and weekend availability required.
- Support the Food and Beverage Operations Manager in running the department, including:
- Breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, and functions up to 80 people.
- Take accountability for all F&B operations in the absence of the F&B Operations Manager.
- Ensure service experience at a 2/3 rosette level.
- Maintain operation procedures at Relais & Châteaux / Rosette standards, including:
- Following Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures in the department.
- Handle:
- All guest queries (including menu, drinks menu, and suggestions).
- Food allergies and special guest requirements.
- Address guest inquiries and complaints in a professional, calm, and positive manner.
- Assist with:
- Rota planning, recruitment, and staff management within the department.
- Supervise work at all levels.
- Develop & train new and existing staff on hotel standards and procedures.
- Ensure financial and HR processes are in place and maintained in the department.

Compensation
- £30,000/year, plus an additional share of service charge and tips (approx. £2-3k per year).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Eligible to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
- Preferred:
- Previous experience working in a Relais & Châteaux property or AA Rosette-awarded restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, wines, and spirits, preferably with a relevant professional qualification.
- Must have:
- Impeccable personal presentation & professional appearance.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Positive, proactive attitude while remaining calm under pressure.
- Genuine passion for hospitality, with enthusiasm for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
