Assistant Restaurant Manager
Company Description Relais & Chateau at Thornbury Castle are seeking a Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our hard working and professional Food & Beverage Team. You will be working in a unique and beautifully restored Castle and be someone who has the passion to deliver truly memorable and impressive 5* experiences for our guests. About Us Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England. The Castle has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment program bringing back to life the regal grandeur of its past. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers 26 rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant, bar and two unique meeting and conference spaces. Our company goal is to deliver “refined and personalised hospitality” to enable our hotel to be a place where all guests can relax, enjoy themselves and have a break from normal life. To feel like royalty in a unique place with unique people. 1 Michelin Key Hotel and 3AA Rosette Restaurant. Job Description £30,000 per annum. Additional share of the service charge and tips paid every month (approx. 2-3K per year). Full time permanent position 40 hours per week, mainly evening shifts and weekend availability required. Support the Food and Beverage Operations Manager in the running of the department (breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner and functions up to 80 people). Take accountability for all F&B operations in the absence of the F&B Operations Manager. Service experience at 2/3 rosette level. Make sure the operation procedures are in place and maintained, monitored and actioned to Relais and Chateaux / Rosette standard. Answer all queries about the menu, including the drinks menu, and make suggestions. Take ownership of guests’ requirements and food allergies. Handle guest queries and complaints in a professional, calm and positive manner. Follow Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures and make sure they are in place in the department. Assist the F&B Operations Manager with rotas, recruitment and staff management within the department. Supervise work in the department at all levels. Develop and train new and existing staff on hotel standards and procedures. Make sure the financial and HR procedures are in place and maintained in the department. Qualifications Experience of working in a Relais and Chateaux or Rosette restaurant. Have a sound knowledge of traditional cocktails, wine and spirits (qualification preferable). Excellent personal presentation. Dedicated team player with strong communication skills. A calm, mature approach. Natural passion and flair for the industry. Ambition to succeed at the highest levels.
