Relais & Châteaux at Thornbury Castle is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join their hardworking and professional Food & Beverance Team. The role is based in a beautifully restored Tudor castle—the only operating castle hotel in England—where you will play a key part in delivering 5★, Michelin Key, and 3AA Rosette-level experiences.

Job Description
Location: Thornbury Castle, Bristol (UK) Contract: Full-time permanent (40 hours/week) Shift requirements: Evenings + weekend availability mandatory
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food & Beverage Operations Manager in running all services:
- Openers (breakfast)
- Afternoon tea
- Dinner (up to 80 guests)
- Events and functions
- Take full accountability for F&B operations in the Operations Manager’s absence
- Ensure standards meet relais & châteaux / Rosette specifications
- Maintain all operational procedures, systems, and staff compliance
- Handle menus, drinks pairings, and custom requests with expertise
- Manage guest queries and complaints with professionalism and tact
- Oversee allergy awareness & dietary needs proactively
- Lead Health & Safety and Food Safety protocol within the team
- Support staff planning, training & day-to-day management
- Mentee junior staff and elevate team performance aligns with hotel standards
- Manage financial procedures, HR documentation and departmental paperwork

Experience: Essential 2/3 Rosette-level service experience
Requirements
- Ability to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship)
- Previous Relais & Châteaux or AA Rosette restaurant experience advised (while not mandatory)
- Strong wine/spirits/cocktail knowledge preferred with relevant qualifications
- Exemplary personal appearance and polished demeanour
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in managing diverse teams
- Resilience under pressure with a positive, proactive mindset
- Passionate about hospitality, with flair for exceptional guest experiences
- Committed to career growth with a long-term mindset

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: £30,000 - £30,500 per year Additional earnings: Includes:
- Accessorise on service charge & tips (approx. £2-3K additional annually)
