Site Technician (Roads Performance Audit Group) – Glasgow

About the Role
WSP is seeking a talented Engineer to join the Roads team based in Glasgow. We are recruiting for a PAG Site Technician role—which is part of the Performance Audit Group (PAG), an independent private sector organisation employed by Transport Scotland. PAG monitors the performance of Operating Companies, auditing the financial, technical, and performance aspects of their contracts.
Your key responsibilities will include carrying out inspections, audits, and monitoring—all while adhering to agreed programmes with Transport Scotland.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect, audit, and monitor asset inventory collection and updating across a roads network.
- Assess the effectiveness and contractual compliance of Suppliers in line with prescribed inspection regimes.
- Issue notices based on site inspections and observations, in accordance with Supplier contracts.
- Verify that Suppliers’ records are accurate, confirming works align with specifications and contract documentation.
- Validate the accuracy of quantities and values claimed by Suppliers.
- Compile reports required by the Employer, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Be fully conversant with Supplier Contracts and relevant industry standards.

Requirements
We’re looking for candidates with either:
Option 1: Formal Education + Moderate Experience
- A HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree relevant to roads/structures.
Option 2: Comprehensive Experience
- Substantial hands-on experience in inspecting, monitoring, and reporting on Supplier compliance with contracts, specifications, and best practices associated with roads construction, management, and maintenance.
Bonus Advantage if you can demonstrate: ✔ Specialist knowledge of maintenance and construction works for roads and structures. ✔ A track record of enforcing compliance across complex operational environments.
