Assistant Security Manager
Location: Wickford Head Office
Reporting to: Senior Security Manager
Working Hours: 09:00 to 19:00, 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays
Contracted Hours: Average of 35.1 hours per week
Salary: Starting salary of £27,000, with potential earnings of up to £45,000 through available overtime, subject to operational demand and hours worked
About the Role
VIP Security (Essex) Ltd is looking for a professional, organised and experienced SIA-licensed Assistant Security Manager to support our operations leadership team.
This role has become available due to internal progression, as our current Assistant Security Manager is moving into another role within the company.
This is a varied operational role based at our Wickford Head Office. You will assist with the day-to-day coordination of security services across multiple contracts, including staff supervision, rota planning, site visits, inspections, administrative duties, and operational support during assigned shifts.
The role will also include supervising and leading security teams at events as part of overtime opportunities. Event work will be arranged in line with operational requirements and business needs.
The successful candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, able to lead by example, and committed to maintaining high standards of service, compliance, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Security Manager will:
- Support the implementation of structured operational procedures to ensure a high-quality, client-focused service
- Assist with staff rotas and shift scheduling across multiple sites to maintain consistent operational coverage
- Support administrative tasks, including uniform distribution, equipment tracking, and compliance documentation
- Conduct site visits and complete inspection reports to ensure contract standards are maintained
- Supervise and lead security teams at events when required as part of overtime arrangements
- Support the planning and coordination of staffing across contracts, ensuring staff understand their duties, site requirements, and expected standards
- Act as the point of contact for company personnel during assigned shifts, including out-of-hours operational support where required
- Hold the emergency on-call phone as required
- Identify and report any disciplinary, grievance, or welfare concerns to the HR/Recruitment Manager at the earliest stage
- Promote staff engagement and retention through effective communication, support, and professional standards
- Ensure work is carried out in line with health and safety requirements and company procedures
- Monitor staffing levels, skills, and training needs, ensuring any concerns are raised and addressed
- Keep informed of relevant industry developments, legislative changes, and best practice
- Support continuous improvement across operational processes and service delivery
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Active frontline SIA Door Supervisor licence as a minimum
- Full manual UK driving licence
- Previous supervisory or management experience within the security industry, or a similar operational environment
- Experience supervising or coordinating teams in an operational setting
- Strong administrative skills
- Experience with shift scheduling, rota planning, or workforce coordination
- Good understanding of security industry standards, site procedures, health and safety requirements, and public-facing security responsibilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage time, tasks, and priorities effectively
- Professional, reliable, and calm approach under pressure
- Based in Essex, UK
