Assistant Shop Manager – Margaret Howell (UK Shops)

Margaret Howell is a contemporary British clothing designer who has worked successfully in men’s and women’s clothing for over five decades. Today, Margaret Howell clothes are sold worldwide with 12 own shops in Europe, over 70 outlets in Japan and an established online business.

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Shop Manager to sell our womenswear and menswear collection at one of our UK shops.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all administrative tasks, ensuring accurate and timely completion of paperwork related to store operations, reporting, and compliance.
  • Support the Shop Manager in leading the team and upholding the standards and values of Margaret Howell.
  • Strengthen store performance through consistent operational execution and building strong, loyalty-building customer relationships.
  • Lead a confident, customer-focused shop floor environment by role-modelling exceptional service, product expertise, and a calm, informed approach.
  • Support the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Contribute to shop performance analysis by compiling and reviewing data, providing clear insights and recommendations for monthly business reviews.
  • Assist in managing stock levels and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Support day-to-day shop operations, including:
    • Ensuring the rota is consistently maintained and up to date.
    • Monitoring team performance.
    • Ensuring compliance with Company policies and Health & Safety regulations.

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, ideally within luxury fashion retail.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a data-driven approach to performance.
  • Proven experience meeting KPIs.
  • Confidence in giving constructive feedback and receiving feedback professionally.
  • A consistent approach to setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability.
  • An inspirational leadership style with a focus on team development.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for luxury fashion and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Understanding of Margaret Howell’s ethos and distinctive approach to customer service.

Hours

28 hours per week, subject to a fixed Fulham Road rota.
