Assistant Site Manager
Freelance Assistant Site Manager
Location: Syston, Leicestershire, East Midlands
Job Type: Contract (Full-Time hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm)
Salary: £240 - £250 per day
A quality-focused housing developer seeks a Freelance Assistant Site Manager to join a traditional new build housing project in Syston, Leicestershire. This role involves supporting the Site Manager in the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to required standards. There is potential for this role to become permanent for the right candidate.
About the Role
- Assist the Site Manager in coordinating site activities
- Support the construction process of traditional new build housing developments
- Ensure adherence to deadlines, quality standards, and compliance
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate site activities and manage construction processes
- Monitor progress against programmes and ensure deadlines are met
- Oversee site safety compliance with health & safety regulations
- Conduct regular site inspections for quality and specification adherence
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for timely material delivery
- Manage site teams, labour, and subcontractors to maintain productivity
- Maintain accurate site records, daily reports, and progress documentation
- Identify and resolve issues promptly to prevent delays or budget overruns
- Site meeting attendance and progress reporting to senior management
- Uphold environmental and sustainability standards

Required Qualifications
✅ Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification ✅ Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card ✅ Valid First Aid qualification ✅ Requirements UK driving licence
Experience & Competencies
Experience Required
- Proven track record on traditional new build housing projects
- Preferable: Previous support to site management teams on residential developments
- Experience ensuring compliance with safety standards on construction sites

Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoor work on active construction sites
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Occasional extended hours or weekends for project deadlines
- Rigorous manual handling across uneven terrain
