Assistant Space & Range Analyst
Retail Display & Space Planner
Quest Search & Selection are currently hiring for a Retail Display & Space Planner who will support the branch category & merchandising team in delivering the retail strategy for grocery, gifting & seasonal.
About the Role
In this role, you will support range planning, stock forecasting and merchandising activity across the retail estate. The position involves:
- Collaborating with the Category Leads in category execution
- Developing effective planograms to optimise space planning and enhance the in-store customer experience
Our client is one of the UK’s leading seasonal retailers, operating across the UK and in key tourist destinations.
Key Responsibilities

Support retail growth strategy through:
- Sales analysis, margin management, and KPI performance tracking in partnership with Buying & Finance teams
- Analyses of customer insights, market trends and trading performance to shape category direction, stock forecasting, and commercial decision-making

Produce and analyse commercial reports including:
- Best-seller performance
- Stock optimisation
- Trading analysis to drive performance improvements

Maintain product data, cost files, and administrative reporting processes, supporting category management and pricing accuracy

Support activities across retail categories:
- Product ranging
- Pricing
- Seasonal promotional activity

Develop and implement:
- Merchandising planograms
- POS materials
- Space planning initiatives to improve in-store presentation and compliance

Conduct in-store visits to review:
- Merchandising standards
- Product presentation
- Range execution across various locations

Coordinate supplier relationships, tenders, and day-to-day communication regarding:
- Deliveries
- Merchandising activities
- Product execution

Support end-to-end development of bespoke products, ensuring:
- Quality assurance
- Margin delivery
- Timely execution

Assist with communication across the retail estate on:
- Promotions
- Range changes
- Merchandising updates
Key Requirements
- Background in:
- Merchandising
- Buying
- Space Planning
- POS management

3+ years’ experience within:
- FMCG
- Retail environments

Exposure to multiple product categories across:
- Grocery
- Non-food sectors

Experience managing supplier relationships and supporting buying activities

Strong commercial awareness with understanding of:
- P&L performance
- Sales trends
- Margin drivers

Knowledge of:
- Ranging
- Planograms
- Space planning/analysis (desirable)

Advanced proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel (report creation & analysis)
- Microsoft Word

Ability to balance customer, operational, and commercial priorities when developing and implementing strategies
