About the Role

The Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring store success, supporting the Store Manager in hitting sales and operational targets. When the Store Manager is away, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations to guarantee seamless service, budget performance, and brand standards. This involves:

  • Evaluating & optimising team performance to meet sales goals
  • Enforcing customer service excellence through training, mentoring, and coaching
  • Maintaining a high-level visual merchandising presentation aligned with Belstaff’s brand vision
  • Upholding business relationships with clients and local partners

You’ll lead as both a strategist and a team architect, fostering a culture where individuals and the business grow together.


Key Responsibilities

🔹 Customer Service

  • Champion unparalleled customer service, setting a luxury retail standard.

    • Ensure intimate product knowledge across collections, aftercare, stock, and brand history.
    • Foster a dynamic team environment focused on driving sales through collaboration.
    • Proactively anticipate and respond to client needs, delivering standout service.
    • Be the role model for customer service, leading by example.
  • Manage complaints effectively, exceeding expectations while involving senior management when required.

  • Keep clients engaged, tying customer interactions to local events, cultural trends, and press updates.

  • Ensure consistent dialogue and support with Head Office, fellow stores, and external partners.

  • Full training and development responsibility for the senior sales team to uphold service excellence.

💰 Sales & Financial Targets

  • Achieve store sales objectives: Hitting daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual targets consistently.
  • Monitor stock trends: Identify bestsellers and slow-moving items, adjusting allocations in line with performance.
  • Report sales analytics: Providing clear insights on trends, employee performance, and potential growth strategies.
  • Drive KPI growth: Own and exceed your own KPIs, plus those of your team to deliver against store targets.
  • Build and use a personal client book, ensuring data is current and active in driving targeted sales.
  • Encourage entrepreneurial mindset: Promote proactive selling techniques, cross-selling strategies, and understanding of Belstaff’s global positioning.

👔 Visual Merchandising

  • You’re the brand custodian: Maintain visual standards to elevate refrigeratories, displays, and customer experience.
  • Mentor teams on VM excellence, ensuring displays reflect Belstaff’s premium image while driving revenue.

📋 Administration & Human Resources

  • Efficiently manage administrative duties: Sales reporting, payroll, HR paperwork, finance, and compliance.
  • Support HR functions, working closely with the Store Manager to maintain operational flow.

🗣️ Communications & Culture

  • Conduct regular team briefings and keep communication transparent and aligned.
  • Share company updates and policies to ensure everyone is informed and compliant.

🎯 Staffing

  • Plan daily and monthly schedules, ensuring optimal team coverage for maximum sales and service.

🚔 Health & Safety

  • Lead H&S protocols, ensuring compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Train all employees on safety procedures and procedures.

🔒 Stock & Security

  • Share responsibility for all stock, implementing measures to prevent loss or damage.
  • Maintain audits, secure storage practices, and adherence to security systems, from tagging to cash handling.

Authority & Decision-Making

  • Structured collaboration with the Store Manager in decision-making, but take ownership when running the store independently.
  • Exercise petty cash authority, following established policies strictly.
  • All decisions you make, even temporarily, are accountable through the Store Manager chain.
